Mega Bonk Review

Mega Bonk is one of those games that looks ridiculously simple at first, but somehow gets its hooks into you.

The whole idea is pretty straightforward: smash stuff, get stronger, unlock new upgrades, and keep going until everything on screen is getting absolutely demolished. It’s dumb in the best possible way. You don’t need to spend ages learning complicated mechanics, and you can jump in, play for a while, and immediately feel like you’re making progress.

What really works for me is the feedback. Every hit feels satisfying, and watching your character go from barely doing anything to completely wrecking enemies is genuinely fun. There’s always that “just one more run” feeling, especially when you’re close to unlocking a new upgrade.

How it runs on an old laptop: I played this on a 2017 laptop. No crashes, and stutter was minimal to none. For a game that fills the screen with chaos, that’s a nice surprise from a machine this old.

It’s not exactly reinventing the gaming wheel, and after a while the repetition can start to show. If you’re looking for a deep story or some massive, complicated system to master, this probably isn’t it.

But honestly, that’s not really the point.

Mega Bonk is pure, uncomplicated fun. It knows exactly what kind of game it wants to be and doesn’t waste your time pretending to be something else. Sometimes you just want to sit down, bonk things into oblivion, watch numbers get bigger, and switch your brain off for a bit.

Verdict: If chaotic, satisfying progression and mindless smashing sound like your kind of evening, Mega Bonk is worth giving a shot. And if your PC is on the older side, it should still run fine.
