The Max Payne remake has no release date, and Rockstar controls what gets announced. This is accurate as of Oct 16 2026.

Confirmed

One combined remake (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, TBA). Remedy is rebuilding Max Payne and Max Payne 2 as a single game. It was announced in April 2022.

Engine and funding (TBA). It runs on Remedy’s own Northlight engine, with Rockstar paying for it.

Status (TBA). Remedy’s Aug 11 half-year report still lists it in full production.

Publisher (TBA). Rockstar is publishing it. Remedy told investors in August that it can’t answer questions about the game.

Not confirmed

Release date (TBA). There’s no date or even a year. Remedy’s page for the game leaves the year blank.

Trailer and gameplay (TBA). I couldn’t find a trailer, gameplay or screenshots from Remedy or Rockstar.

My guess

This part is inference. Rockstar is busy with GTA 6 until Nov 19, so I don’t expect news before then. After that, the remake looks like Rockstar’s next published release. Nothing official says so.

A note for a computer from 2017

A remake on a modern engine won’t run on my computer from 2017. If I want Max Payne before then, the originals are the way to go.
